Teacher Subject Specialism Training
A partnership between the East Kent Learning Alliance, the Kent and Medway Maths Hub and Plymouth University.Venue: The Canterbury High School, CT2 8QAWe are offering a choice of 2 Post-ITT Mathematics Teacher Subject Specialism Training courses to provide high-quality professional development to those: (1) teaching, or wishing to teach, GCSE mathematics at secondary and FE levels or (2) teaching, or wishing to teach, Core Mathematics at secondary and FE levelsThe aims of the course are to:● Inspire your enthusiasm for mathematics● Enhance your subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge to give you confidence to teach mathematics or Core Mathematics● Provide you with motivating activities and tasks for teaching mathematics or Core Mathematics● Provide you with certification to verify your achievements and offer you the opportunity to study for Masters creditsTSST courses are aimed at teachers with QTS who are working in the state sector (including secondary and middle schools, FE Colleges, special schools and PRUs) and who are teaching or planning to teach mathematics at secondary/FE level. They are also suitable for those returning to teaching after a career break.The course is offered FREE through funding provided by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and is run by the East Kent Learning Alliance and the Kent and Medway Maths Hub at the Canterbury Academy, Canterbury.The course is administered by CIMT, Plymouth University, which also provides the online assessment and certification as well as the opportunity to study for Master’s credits.The course will consist of 5 compulsory full day sessions and 5 optional twilight sessions spread throughout the academic year.
